You can use Meetchi on an iPhone directly in Safari: open meetchi.com, sign in, allow camera and microphone access, and start matching. There is no iOS app required for this browser route. Keep the tab active, use a stable connection and leave immediately if a conversation feels unsafe.
Open Meetchi and sign in with Safari
- Open Safari and enter meetchi.com; check the domain before signing in.
- Tap Start Video Chat. The mobile-first ad appears before the account/chat flow; after it completes, continue to sign in.
- Complete the current account sign-in flow. Meetchi requires an account, so private messages, friends and enforcement stay attached to a user.
- Start matching from the video area.
On a mobile screen, keep Safari in the foreground and use the primary Start action before continuing into the account and matching flow.
Allow the camera and microphone
When Safari asks, choose Allow for both devices. If you denied access, tap the page-settings icon in Safari's address bar, open Website Settings, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload. You can also review Settings → Apps → Safari → Camera/Microphone on current iOS versions. Meetchi cannot override an iPhone permission.
Front and rear camera, orientation and audio
Use the camera control exposed by the active browser chat to change an available camera. If switching is unavailable, stop the current camera, change the iOS/Safari camera choice and rejoin. Portrait is easiest for the mobile controls; landscape can give video more width, but rotate before a match so Safari can settle the layout. Raise media volume, disconnect unexpected Bluetooth devices and confirm Silent Mode is not hiding other alerts.
Wi-Fi, mobile data, battery and data use
Live two-way video uses more battery and data than text chat. Prefer reliable Wi-Fi, plug in for longer sessions and avoid Low Power Mode if it interrupts the camera. On cellular, confirm Safari may use mobile data and watch your plan's usage. If Wi-Fi is unstable, test cellular once; if cellular is weak, move back to Wi-Fi rather than repeatedly reconnecting.
Fix a black screen or missing sound
- Reload after confirming Safari site permissions.
- Close FaceTime, Camera, Instagram and other tabs or apps that may hold the camera or microphone.
- Turn off content blockers for this site temporarily and retry.
- Disconnect a VPN once to test whether it is blocking the real-time connection.
- Confirm the camera is on in Meetchi and the tab remains in the foreground.
Browser, Android app and Android web: the real differences
On iPhone, Meetchi runs in Safari and follows Apple's browser permission and background-tab rules. Meetchi also has an Android app, while Android users can use the web experience; those routes use Android's own app or Chrome permissions. Do not expect an iOS app-only background-call feature: leaving Safari or locking the phone can pause the browser camera session.
Safety controls before you match
Check the camera background for addresses, documents and reflections. Never share passwords, codes, money or exact location. Use Next to leave, and use Report or Block for rule-breaking behavior. Read the Safety Center before your first call.
