Meetchi Help
Camera or Microphone Not Working?
First, allow camera and microphone access for meetchi.com, close any other app using those devices, and reload the page. Then confirm the correct devices are selected. These checks solve the most common blank-video and missing-audio problems; the sections below cover browser, phone and operating-system settings.
30-second quick check
- Check the camera icon or site controls in the address bar and choose Allow.
- Close FaceTime, Zoom, Teams, Camera and other camera tabs/apps.
- Turn the Meetchi Mic and Cam controls on, then reload once.
- Remove a VPN or extension temporarily if the call still cannot connect.
Chrome camera and microphone permission
Open meetchi.com, select the site-controls icon beside the address, and set Camera and Microphone to Allow. If the device list is available, select the intended camera and mic. Reload the tab. You can also open Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera or Microphone, then remove an old blocked Meetchi entry before returning.
Safari permission on Mac
With Meetchi open, choose Safari → Settings for This Website and set Camera and Microphone to Allow. Or open Safari → Settings → Websites and review both device categories. Reload after changing a setting; an already-open media request may not update until the page restarts.
iPhone Safari
Tap Safari's page-settings control in the address bar, choose Website Settings, then allow Camera and Microphone. If the choice is missing or remains blocked, open iPhone Settings → Apps → Safari and review Camera/Microphone access. Return to Safari, keep the Meetchi tab in the foreground and reload.
Android Chrome
Tap the controls beside the address, open Permissions and allow Camera and Microphone. Also check Android Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions. If you use the Meetchi Android app instead of Chrome, grant permissions to the Meetchi app itself; browser and app permissions are separate.
Windows privacy settings
Open Settings → Privacy & security → Camera and enable camera access plus access for desktop apps. Repeat under Microphone. Then fully close and reopen Chrome or your supported browser. A browser-level Allow setting cannot bypass a Windows-level denial.
macOS camera and microphone settings
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and enable your browser; repeat for Microphone. Quit and reopen the browser when macOS asks. If the browser is not listed, revisit Meetchi and trigger the device request once.
Another app is using the camera
Quit video-call, recording and camera apps—not just their visible windows. Close other browser tabs using video. On mobile, swipe those apps away. Retry after the camera indicator turns off; some hardware permits only one active capture session.
The wrong camera or microphone is selected
Choose the intended input in the browser's site/device settings. Disconnect unused headsets, docks or virtual-camera tools and reload. If sound arrives through the wrong output, check the operating system's sound output too; microphone permission does not control the speaker.
Black screen
Confirm the Meetchi Cam control is on and uncover any physical privacy shutter. Test the operating-system Camera app. If that app is also black, restart the device or address its driver/hardware first. If only Meetchi is black, reset the site permission, reload and test in a private window.
Cache and extension check
Try a private/incognito window. If it works, disable privacy, script, camera or ad-blocking extensions one at a time for meetchi.com, and clear this site's stored data rather than deleting all browsing history. Sign in again after site data is cleared.
VPN or WebRTC connection problem
A VPN, corporate firewall, restrictive Wi-Fi or network filter can allow the page while preventing real-time media. Disconnect the VPN briefly or test another trusted network. If devices work locally but a match never receives media, this network test helps separate a permission issue from RTC connectivity.
Use safety controls when video returns
Check what your camera reveals before matching. Leave an uncomfortable call immediately and use report or block when appropriate. Read the Meetchi Safety Center and the 12-check safety guide.
Permissions fixed?
